MediSoft Sucks…

STRESS VS SUCCESS

First: I’m going to tell you how to fix MediSoft, but first a few paragraphs fo rant to feel better (jump to the end of paragraph 3 now to learn how to fix MediSoft). Networking sucks, programmers suck, information technology sucks, upgrading software sucks, support calls that charge money suck, AT&T / Cingular definitely sucks…

It all sucks and here’s why I now do SEO – in one word: Honesty. Honesty is responsible for my change toward SEO. The search engines aren’t totally immune from shady dealings but since they are free (and freely chosen or rejected) people choose the one that performs the best for them and have no other criteria in mind.

Today I worked for 8 hours installing a MediSoft “Office Hours” server on a medical network. It would simply not work no matter what I did. There is no user interface area where settings can be made easily. If a setting changes then there is no option to go back, only to quit. Telephone support is extremely expensive, expensive upgrades are required in order to continue getting paid support, and the support obviously employs smoke and mirrors with a complex set of acrobatic maneuvers on the computer to make even (what should be) the simplest things work right.

I’ll give you the answer to ALL of MediSoft’s Office Hours headaches now (for those of you who found this via a search engine)

Go to the registry and find:
HKey Current User/Software/MediSoft

You will see two values of significance in there which you need to set up as follows:

Current Practice \\server\medidata\dgdata
Root Data Path \\server\medidata

(NOTE: “server” is the actual name of your Office Hours server.)

THAT’S ALL! DONE! 99.99% of your problems (if not 100% of them) will be solved. Otherwise you’ll be seeing problems like “Error 6420 The discovery process for the Advantage Database Server failed. Unable to connect to the Advantage Database Server…” You’ll see dozens of frantic unanswered desperate “HELP ME, HELP ME!!!” pleas on the internet. You’ll see “help” files in Office Hours saying to make sure you have IPX/SPX compatible transport protocol enabled (even if you don’t have a Novell server anywhere)…

Once again – and again – and again – I have found a solution to yet another vexing, maddening, time and sanity consuming problem created ON PURPOSE by some miserable low life wanting to suck endless money from “rich” clients (in this case doctors) by making what should have been a very simple piece of configuration virtually impossible to access.

With SEO I’m in charge of the code. I have few headaches and don’t have to lie or deal with lies. Over the years I’ve saved companies I’ve worked for millions of dollars troubleshooting and solving formerly impossible to solve problems at the risk of losing my mind with frustration. I won’t do it any more at any price. With SEO I get steady progressive results without having to go nuts. Give me a call, please at my Florida number (352) 232-1678 or at my New York number (917) 460-8312 and I’ll be happy to help you with your business web site.
